A commercial-scale aquaponic system, developed at the university of the virgin islands (uvi), has been in operation for 7 years. the uvi system, which has produced tilapia and a variety of vegetable crops, serves as a successful design model for the nascent aquaponic industry.. The aquaponic system i will be utilizing is a scaled down version of the university of the virgin islands commercial scale system. it is roughly 1/4th the size of the uvi system, but may be multiplied in accordance with resources and demand..
