What a Wicked Wet Wednesday

,
Wonderful Watery Wednesday
Yes we are still getting regular downpours so we have plenty of water in the seven tanks (plus the bore water) But Really, How much water can a puddle hold...

Now, lets see what I can find to amuse all my friends this time around....

It is not formidable to pattern a simple aquaponic complement which can be placed indoors or outdoors. The options ye have been to squeeze a readymade pack or get the components from your internal hardware plus hobby supply stores plus set up the section yourself.
What have been the components of a simple aquaponics system?

In the middle of the semester, we became discouraged with our initial project.  We were starting to tackle a problem in our own lives, but felt we weren’t learning or exploring enough.  Around the same time, we came across Elle Sheiferstein’s Aquaponics project, Green Farmed Foods on youtube.  Elle came to Baltimore from New York initially to rehab old rowhomes and create housing.  When she came across the Old Augenbrack Beer Brewery she initially wanted to

From E-Zine Articles:
You can design an aquaponics at home system that can produce fresh organic vegetables and raise fish at the same time. Taking a lesson from fish farming otherwise known as aquaculture and the practice of raising plants without soil known as hydroponics a marriage of the two worlds are created to form aquaponics.
Aquaponics at home can be a very basic system designed to grow a small herb garden or an aggressive system designed to raise organic vegetables to feed an entire household.

Well, getting ready for some new catfish so we moved the aquarium outdoors to become the new Quarantine Aquaponics system.
We decided the big aquarium indoors was too much moisture for the house and we needed more storage space in the spare room. Well why not set it up outside? I did add a cover in front to keep the sun off the tank as the algae would otherwise have taken over and heated up the tank quickly.

 From Articlesbase:
It is not difficult to design a basic aquaponic system that can be placed indoors or outdoors. The options you have are to purchase a readymade kit or get the components from your local hardware and hobby supply stores and build the unit yourself.
What are the components of a basic aquaponics system?
  1. A fish tank with fish, the size you select will be determined by where you locate it and the scope of your system.
  2. A grow bed with plants, there is no limit here in terms of what you can grow, it will depend on your goals, the type of water flow and the space you have dedicated to the aquaponics system.
  3. A water pump and filtration system, it is vital that a perfect....

From The College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources:
One of the best kept secrets in the University of Hawaii System is the aquaculture research
and extension complex that is nestled in the mauka corner of Windward Community College
and State Hospital campuses. Beginning in 2009 CTAHR’s aquaculture research and extension
program began to include aquaponic technologies, which integrates aquaculture and hydroponic
food production methods. It is currently being used as....

A word from Murray Hallum:We’re very excited about this next DVD offering from Practical Aquaponics Murray Hallam because its something that he’s been asked to do continually over the years by many people who want to build their own aquaponics system.

From 120 Things in 20 Years: Aquaponics - Pump-less cycling Success!
Sometimes, I know things like cycling a pile of gravel should work, but Im still surprised when they actually do.
After shovelling 3/4 of the gravel into my grow bed, I got lazy and went to bed. But I thought Id try getting a head start to cycling up my system as gravel in a grow bed, and a pile of gravel on the ground.

Some Videos from HOWSTUFFWORKS: The big trend in produce farming is to move it indoors and grow the plants hydroponically. This offers the same kind of advantages in terms of water consumption, weather and consistency, and also opens up the possibility of urban farming. Here is an example of an advanced hydroponic lettuce farm:

From Can You Feed Your Family With Aquaponics?
Thanks for all these great aquaponic links and ideas.  Thank you, Jag, for the film clip.  The man, Hobie, whom the speaker is most directly conversing is a long time friend of mine.  The plant he is featuring, taro, is an important one of our staples.
My favorite part of focusing my efforts and concerns on food production, is that it makes me happy.  Cultivating life around us, is so much more joyful and fulfilling than stressing about the rise of fascism and an impending economic collapse.  ... I do both, rejoice in the abundant biology around me and stress about the digression in our society.  I like the happy part best, so I place the most energy there.
Our aquaculture system should be up and running within the month.  Hopefully, the rainwater feed will minimize the need for the pump system that will be in place.  Well let you know how well we succeed.....

Now From GOArticles:With the tough economic circumstances were all facing, getting inexpensive and quality foods and products is a growing challenge for even the most experienced shoppers. Prices are through the roof to the point where it seems you have to spend a fortune to have a healthy diet. More inexpensive products are always of lower quality, this holds true for food as well. You can now get the best organic fruits, vegetables, and fish… plus save money at the same time! Where does this come from? It comes from your own farm…

                                                        ...oooOooo...

Well, Time has got away from me again. So until Friday Take really good care of yourselves (especially on the roads, and please no accidents if youre on holidays).
Bye 4 Now
